How I Work

I am person-centred trained but consider myself to be integrative... so what does this mean?

The person-centred approach is at the heart of my therapy, this means that you are at the centre of our work together. You have the internal resources you need for growth. I offer a safe, empathic, non-judgemental and transparent environment for you to explore issues that are important to you.

Working integratively means that I offer a range of interventions in my work with clients... it's like having a toolbox; depending on the issue, I may use a range of different tools to address the problem.

Therefore, I offer counselling, coaching or a combination of both (Personal Consultancy) to my clients.

It is important to find the right counsellor for you where you are able to build a trusting and safe relationship, so that you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings in the sessions.

Therefore, I offer a complementary initial half hour session to discuss how we might work together, what you may want to work on and answer any questions you may have. We can then decide whether I am the right counsellor for you and there is no obligation to return.

Should you decide you want to work with me, then subsequent sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration and typically on a weekly basis, at least to start.

It is impossible to know how many sessions you may want/need as everyone is different and we can review this on an ongoing basis. You are not obliged to sign up for a set number of sessions; some clients decide after a couple of sessions they are not ready yet and others may continue therapy for months and sometimes years, it's entirely up to you.

We will also agree a therapeutic contract for working together.

I hold professional Indemnity Insurance and have regular clinical supervision.

Location

I am currently offering face-to-face, online and phone sessions.

My private practice is from my home in East Haddon, Northampton where I have a private therapy room.

My online and phone work means I can work with you wherever you are in the world. I have clients based all over the UK.

The joy of this is that it gives you the freedom to select a counsellor who is the best fit for you and is not determined by location.

Timings & Fees

Each 50 minute session is £60 and I offer some concessions  (e.g. Trainees), with payment via bank transfer.

I do not charge for the initial 30 minute consultation.

If you cannot make a session for any reason, please let me know and I am happy to rearrange. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, the following cancellation policy applies:

  • Less than 48 hours notice - Full fee
  • Between 48-72 hour notice - Half fee
  • More than 72 hour notice - no fee

In the rare occurrence I may need to cancel an appointment due to illness or unforeseen circumstances, I will notify you as soon as I possibly can. I will also make you aware of any weeks I am unavailable well in advance.

If this all seems to resonate with you, I look forward to hearing from you.
